As some of you already know, I’ve recently accepted a part-time position as the Lead Instructor for the AjA Project, an after-school program in San Diego. AjA uses participatory photography methods to help recent refugee kids (middle- and high-schoolers) explore their experiences and feelings regarding leaving their home and coming to the United States. Participatory photography is based on the idea of teaching people photography so they can create images to tell their own story, rather than having someone take their image and tell their story for them. And I am SOOOOO excited about this. Like, SO excited. Beyond excited. Elated. Seriously. Elated. Can you tell I’m excited? Seriously.
So that I can give more focus to this really exciting project, I’ll be reducing the number of Tuesday Tidbits from once a week to every other week. A Tuesday Tidbit furlough, if you will.
Never fear, you’ll still get your tidbits. Just not as frequently. But absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?
Happy shooting from Vantage! And go check out The AjA Project–they rock!

Not that I know of, Matt…yet. But I think we’re working on helping other not-for-profits develop the materials to create a similar program….in the meantime, maybe you’ll just have to move to San Diego.
Are there any plans to expand this program, like, say, to Chicago?
Jena I am so so so proud of you for doing this! Congratulations!!!!! I hope to hear about your experience with this, via phone call or email
Love
